About This Tool

What is a QR Code?

A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode invented by Denso Wave in 1994. It stores information as a pattern of black and white squares that can be read by smartphone cameras and dedicated QR scanners. QR codes can encode text, URLs, contact information (vCard), Wi-Fi credentials, and more. Learn more on Wikipedia.

Error Correction Levels

QR codes support four levels of Reed-Solomon error correction: Low (L) recovers 7% of data, Medium (M) recovers 15%, Quartile (Q) recovers 25%, and High (H) recovers 30%. Higher correction levels make the QR code larger but more resilient to damage, dirt, or partial obstruction.

Customization

This tool lets you customize the QR code size and colors. The foreground and background colors can be changed, but ensure sufficient contrast for reliable scanning.

Common Use Cases

QR codes are used for website links, digital business cards, restaurant menus, event tickets, payment systems, Wi-Fi sharing, two-factor authentication (TOTP), and product packaging.
